Re: After All It Was a Great Big World, With Lots of Places To Run To...

My friend Kelsey married her best friend and soulmate Buck (or as his parents named him 29 years ago, Ryan) in the mountains of Crested Butte, Colorado this past weekend. Soulmate is not a term I use lightly and I've actually never used this word to describe any of my friends and their significant others, but for Kelsey and Buck, it's the truth. Like two puzzle pieces you recognize immediately as perfect matches out of all the other pieces in the box, this is Kelsey and Buck. They're both hysterical and real and quirky and sarcastic and strange and clearly meant for each other. And while it took them almost six years to finally get it right, they exchanged vows on Saturday and honestly, I never cried so hard at a wedding before in my life.

Kelsey wore Vera Wang and bright blue shoes. Buck and his groomsmen wore red socks and Vans...they had also stashed several bottles of Jack Daniels under the tables which were conveniently found by the kid-guests who thought the long linens made for ideal forts. Kelsey walked down the aisle to "Hoppipolla" by Sigur Rós, while her bridesmaids walked down to "An American Girl" by Tom Petty. It was pretty damn perfect...and this is coming from someone who loathes weddings. Damn them for making me believe in love again!

I'm thinking I'll stay out here for a bit, take a breather from the city heat and recoup. Yes, I think I have some recouping to do, some words to write, and some friends and family with whom to spend time...

xo.
Mandy.

I ride Crested Butte Mnt every year - my favourite Colorado town! You should go back for the winter season although it's a real bitch when those passes are closed.
